So in about three to four days we will all be in Taiwan. CRAZY! It seems like I've been waiting so long for June 9th to come and it is almost here. Mimi (my Taiwanese sister) finally contacted me yesterday and she seems to be a super sweet girl. My parents are kind of freaking out, for this is the first time that I will be traveling on my own and that fact that I will be going to the other side of the world isn't helping. However, I think that they are excited for me to experience yet another culture.
Today, we had our send off dinner at May Dragon. EVERYONE was there. Parents, siblings, grandparents, the Taiwanese Chamber of Commerce, the mayor of Addison, and everyone from Texas Youth Ambassadors. We performed God Bless Texas as well the Cupid Shuffle and everyone seemed to love it. I hope that the Taiwanese schools love it too. We worked so hard on God Bless Texas and now that it has finally come together I am being hopeful and thinking that they will. The leader, Ben, from last year's trip was there and he couldn't stop saying how much this trip will change the way we look at things. He repeated multiple times that this will be one of the best experiences we will ever have and that we (the ambassadors) will become some sort of family and that we will create special bonds with our Taiwanese families.
I cannot wait until it is June 9th! It will be a little sad to leave my home and family behind for two weeks but I am even more excited to see what Taiwan has to offer. I am counting down the days until I am in Taiwan having new experiences and creating thousands of new memories that I will cherish forever.
