Let’s hope that you understand my blog. It is written with an accent. (It is an inside joke) We left Dallas an hour later than planned do it to bad weather, they said. It was a long flight to Tokyo but It wasn’t as bad as I thought it was going to be. Once we passed security in Tokyo, we didn’t do much except for walking and looking around the different snack shops and such. The student sat there, talked to each other and used their computers.
We arrived to Taipei late (it was after 9:30 PM) and everything went smoothly while going through customs. Some of the host families were there and took the girls home. The boys travelled with us to Tao-Yuan by bus. Olivia (our handler) and the Principal of Yung – Feng High School were at the airport to greet us. Both of them are very nice. There were other people from the school but I don’t really know what their positions are. We had traffic delay getting to the school where the boys were going to be picked up by their families. They had to change plans immediately and we were picked up from another place. It has been raining since we arrived to Tao- yuan.
The principal and some of her staff greet us this morning and the band played for us three songs, including the Taiwanese Anthem. It was very nice and impressive. The principal (Han, Ching- Chu) gave us a banner that says Welcome and we gave her the gift we had for her school. Our students performed their two dances. The Taiwanese students enjoyed both of them a lot (specially the Cupid Shuffle). The principal danced and the students seemed to be impressed.
Our Dallas delegation students went to classes with their host students and will be in classes until 4 PM. They have graduation after that but we are not involved with that (I am glad because after one graduation this week of 1686 students, I don’t know if we have the energy to sit through one of 900) It has been raining therefore, they will move the graduation to another building.
We will eat lunch together at noon. It is about 11 am now.
