Amalia: We Are Finally In Taiwan!

After a horrible 17 hour trip, we are finally here! The flight from Dallas to Tokyo was incredibly long. 14 hours or so? Luckly we had little screens to watch TV shows and movies. Feels like I watched them all! We got airplane food...wooo. I think we had about four meals in total and all I can say is thank God I took extra food in my carry on! Anyways, once we landed at Tokyo the experiences of new cultures began. We explored the airport and bought Japanese candy, which was simply delicious. During our exploration I realized that even though we might look different and have different customs we are all the same. People were happy to travel, moms took extreme care of their young ones, and families stuck together. It helped me realize that even though I am going to a country I have never been to before to live with people I have never met, I will still be able to form some sort of bond.

Anyways, my new family picked me up at the airport. There are four people in the Lu Family. Mimi's (my Taiwanse sister) parents seems to be very kind and funny, her brother looks like a nice young boy and Mimi herself is simply a sweetheart. I am very excited to spend the next two weeks of my life with the four of them.

So tomorrow we will all be going to our first high school which happens to be Mimi's school. She told me that they have prepared games and fun activites for us. We have to perform for them, but I have no idea how that will go considering we are all extremely tired. As I type this I am yawning and am having to work to keep my eyes open. All I can hope for is that we be able to do our dance perfectly well and represent the U.S.A adequately.
