Amanda: Day 2

This day was amazing! The delegation went to their first day of Taiwanese school and it was such a neat experience. My host sister, Cathy, and I walked to her school in Taoyuan in the rain and I was able to see the street shops and other people around. From her high school, we were driven to Yung Feng High School in Taipei and were welcomed by the school band. Their perfomance was flawless and you could tell that they practice and work hard to get that good. Afterwards, we performed our line dances and were escorted to a meeting room. In the meeting room, we met the principal, received our schedules, and were met by students from our first class. I went to English, civics, confucious, lunch, athletics, and home management. I learned how to say many chinese phrases (like my name, good morning, goodbye, bathroom), received many gifts, and played games. The students were all so kind and applauded everything I did, even when I messed up like during the table tennis games in athletics. I bet they thoroughly enjoyed laughing at my horrible pronunciation of chinese and I have grown to appreciate how complex the language is. I'm slowly learning more and more about this different country and I'm learing to love everything about it. I love the food, the people, their work ethic and the enviroment of the city and I just can't wait to get more of it.
