May I Take A Picture With You???

What a bad flight. 13 hours of flying to Tokyo was very uncomfortable, although the food was better than I expected. I got less than 2 total hours of sleep out of the 36 hours that we were traveling (and staying at the Tokyo Airport). We finally got to Matt's house around midnight on June 12th. His house is very nice. Dustin and I are sharing a room, and I'm hoping we can make it cooler tonight than last night. I didn;t get any sleep last night either.

Driving through Taoyuan in the daytime is much different than late at night. There's lots of mopeds everyone. We got to Yung Feng High School around 8:30, we were a little late. The school is huge, regardless of what Matt says. It's 6 levels tall, with a huge open forum, and almost 99% of the classrooms in the school have windows. Everything in the school is open, it has a really nice feel to it. The weather is very humid; it was raining earlier, but it's since stopped. We first went to Geography class. That was definately not what I expected. The teacher was cracking jokes and laughing. All the girls in the school stare at me; mostly because of my blond hair. Art class was definately not what I expected. Basically, we listened to music for the first 10 minutes, and used watercolors to paint how we felt from listening to the music. I drew a cello with a blue background because I thought the piece was very calm and serene. When I got up to explain my artwork to the class, everyone in the class clapped and cheered. Next we had to go to nursing class. It was nothing like what I thought it would be. The teacher talked about the environment and why it was important to conserve water. The class turned into a question/answer session with the class asking us questions.

After school, we went along with Demi to catch the bus. That was a very different experience for me. It was very crowded, and the bus driver constantly stopped to let people on and off the bus. I went along with the rest of the group to dinner at the Hong Lin Teppan Yaki, a hibachi-style restaurant. For a mere $90NT ($3), I ate stir-fried pork with garlic. It was amazing. After that, we walked back to a bus stop. Since I've never been in a big city before, it was very different than what I've always known. Walking down the street, there was shop after shop after shop, the city is huge beyond anything I've ever seen.
