We leave in three days and the send-off dinner at May Dragon was today. The food was great, but I have a feeling that the food in Taiwan will be much different, yet, still as delicious.
I've almost completed packing and I feel like no matter what, I will never have enough gifts for my host family. When my brothers have done this exchange in the past, they told me of how kind and hospitable their host families were, much more open and helpful than I could imagine. And, even though they don't know English, they try their hardest to be the best hosts. So, I feel I will not be able to thank them with the few gifts I will be giving them.
This experience is one of a kind and I am super pumped to get to Taiwan and experience it! I already know I am going to love the people and the food and all the good things that come along with it! Of course, though, I am a little nervous. I don't exactly know what to expect food wise, or home wise. And I'm even a little afraid to practice my Chinese, even though I'm pretty sure they will enjoy listening to me trying to pronounce everything correctly. My stomach gets butterflies every time I think to myself: "You'll be on the other side of the world in three days."
