Well 20 hours in a plane ride and 4 hours of sleep later, im on my way to the taiwanese highschool. everywhere i go there is city as large as any city in texas. it seems endless. everyone in taiwan either stares at me or smiles and asks for a picture. if i speak any chinese to them they just laugh and stare in amazement.
Everything about the transportation in Taiwan is different. The lanes on the street are a suggestion and the scooters zip in and out everywhere you look. however, the main form of travel seems to be buses that are packed to their limit. trains as well are crammed to the max with people.
In the highschools, we have been bombarded with gifts and performances. The band that played for us was AMAZING! Every class i go into i seem to recieve a different and new kind of drink or fruit. I dont think i will ever be hungry on this trip. ^_^ The students were excited when i offered to trade american money for their taiwanese money. Even a penny would light their face up like the fourth of july. and a quarter made them ecstatic and they said it was too much. I have no idea what their coins are worth, but i know that trading a penny for an ente (sp?) isn't some kind of loss for me. speaking of money, why did the japanese punch holes in all my coins? ;D
