Dustin Ackerman: Day Two

Well, day two was a pretty good day. We woke up and ate breakfast, which was noodles and another one of those delicious sandwiches, and more black tea. We arrived at the school and got our awesome new shirts, then we hit the road.

The bus riding today was probably the most fun I've had on a bus ever. The tour buses in Taiwan are fitted with karaoke equipment. And we spent the hour drive to Taipei singing our favorite songs (and laughing at some of the translations on the karaoke machine) and listening to our hosts and handlers sing some of their favorite songs in Chinese.

Our first stop was the Palace Museum. Whenever we got there, I didn't think it was going to be fun. But the history was so interesting! And we had a very funny tour guide. It's amazing to think about the things people did all those years ago without any technology.

Then came lunch. I'm proud to say that I tried everything, and I liked everything but the soup stuff at the beginning. The squid was probably my favorite. And I really like how they have tea with every meal.

After that, we got back on the bus to go to Taipei 101, the second tallest building in the whole world. It was awesome. I had wanted to see it for a long time since I watched it on Travel channel. And the most amazing part was the 660 ton wind damper. Also the biggest in the world.

Then we went to the Memorial Hall, and we got there in time to see the changing of the guard. I watched them, and all I can say is that I wish my JROTC drill team could move with such precision. They were amazing.

Ethan, Matt, and I came home on the bus and ate dinner. We had rice with potatoes and chicken, VERY spicy vegetables, shrimp, and some sort of shellfish. Maybe mussels. It was so delicious. Matt's mom is a great cook. [I twisted my ankle coming down the stairs. It's fine, but it will hurt tomorrow since we're walking everywhere =/]

Well, I'm really sleepy. Looking forward to tomorrow, and hoping I'll get to see Maggie, Vincent, and the gang soon.

Come back for more tomorrow! =D

  1. Wow Dustin sounds like another great day and what a great experience to actually see the Taipai 101 building in real life. I am glad that you are enjoying the food, just remember how thin the taiwanese people are so there are very few calories in the food. Take care and look forward to day 3.
    Love you,
